I like the PRO sound card more than external mixer if use with PC
I have tried: audio2000 mixer, mackie mixer, yamaha mixer ... all of them make analog noise.
with a cheap sound card like EMU 0404 ( $50 used) can do the job and get rid of the noise

I am using a Behringer 1212FX which It is pretty decent. This model comes with 7 band equalizer & feedback detection/elimination capability, no key-shift. Cost is ~ $200. I also have an Audio2000 (paid $300 for it). The Audio2000 has key-shift. However, I found that key-shift function is usually distorted the sound when applied. Anyway, they are both very competitive. It really is a matter of taste. See link below. Good luck. http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHXENYX1222FX

thanks Analogue noise = the hum or constant noise you would hear when you plug a microphone into a mixer and turn on the volume (without music or talking into the mic). Each component has its own level of noise (the mic, the mixer, and even the mic cable). When all 3 are not good quality, then total noise is more noticeable even at low volume.

I used to have a crappy home karaoke system and there was a constant hum when the mics were plugged in the mixer and no music is playing through it. Very annoying. Now I have a higher end mixer (Allen and Heath WZ3 16-2) there is no noise whatsoever. A little off topic, right now my mixer doesn't have the key control to change the key to allow the singer to sing lower/higher octave depending on the music. Is there a software to allow this? If not, then what do you recommend for a good key control component to add on. thanks

Some PC's soundcards have softwares (AC97 drivers) that have the "pitch shift" and EQ features. My old Pentium 4's cheap soundcard has it. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find one for my Dell Vostro laptop (which uses SigmaTel driver). Edited by user Thursday, March 11, 2010 3:02:30 AM(UTC)
