Hi everyone.

I'm going to compare the sound quality of some recommended soundcards & audio interfaces (under $200; anything between $200 and $2,000 won't make a difference with karaoke.)

for LAPTOP & external:
1) Laptop onboard sound (from Dell Vostro laptop)
2) Sound Blaster Creative X-Fi USB
3) Echo Indigo IO (PCMCIA card)
4) M-audio Mobile Pre or M-audio Fast Track (this is an audio interface)

for DESKTOP:
5) Desktop onboard sound (from Asus P6T motherboard)
6) Echo MIA soundcard

Suggest or Recommend another soundcard / audio interface if you want to hear how it sounds compared to others.

Edit: Check the RESULTS at this thread. LINK

Desktop:
Creative Labs Sounds Blaster X-Fi (any series is good)
Lập loè lửa lựu đơm bông
Sau vài ba tháng đỏ hồng cả cây
Nỗi buồn vương vấn đâu đây
Đưa ta vào chốn lưu đày thế giang
Nghiệp này kiếp trước đã mang
Ngóng trông phép lạ bắt thang ta về

Cool! I currently have the M-audio Mobile Pre and it sounds good. If you find out another one that sounds better, please report.

Nghe noi la X-FI Extreme Audio khong tot. It's the worst one in X-Fi line. For the others, audio quality is good equally in the X-Fi line (main differences are in the extra connections and RAM size for gaming.)

I recommend this sound card - M-AUDIO Audiophile 2496 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface - http://www.newegg.com/Pr...spx?Item=N82E16829121120

This sound card has RCA inputs/outputs; therefore, you get less noise - either coming out of the speakers or when recording (for fun!) - than sound cards with 1/8 jack.

Experts,

Do you guys have any other suggestions? I use my karaoke system for movie as well, so I am not sure if the M-Audio would produce surroundsound.

Then you should go with Asus Xonar DX card like here
http://www.newegg.com/Pr...px?Item=N82E16829132006. This is what I'm planning on using.
