Starting with 1.5.114, there will be two buttons added: Previous Chapter and Next Chapter. These two buttons are useful for skipping to the next song on an MKV with multiple chapters.
I added this feature because I have been using TKaraoke in the living room to watch YouTube and Music videos like Paris by Night. Typical music video is 4 hours long with each song bookmarked at a chapter. Prior to using TKaraoke, I would have to do this:
1. Rip the Blu-ray ISO into a 30+ GB mkv file
2. Load the file in Servioo DLNA server
3. Play the music videos using a Smart TV
The issue above is not all video files can be played and sometimes the TV can't keep up w/ the high bit-rate MKV (raw rip from BD-50). Also skipping chapters sometimes work and other doesn't. Not able to skip to the next song really sucks.
With build 114, I don't need the Smart TV playing a DLNA file (transcoded file) anymore. I can control the music video via the Online Songbook - problem solved! Integrating music video and YouTube viewing and Karaoke singing into one app made it easier in an environment using a remote control or a phone to control is a lot more convenience than having to play with the keyboard with multiple apps. |

In TKaraoke, two new buttons were added (Previous Chapter and Next Chapter) to navigate chapters on the song. On the Online Songbook, there is no new button. To skip chapters via the Online Songbook, follow the following rules:
1. If the current song has no chapters (i.e. a normal Karaoke Song), pressing Next on the SB will skip the song
2. If the current song has chapters (i.e. a music video MKV), pressing Next on the SB will skip the chapter
3. If the current song has chapters and the user want to skip the song, first pause the song (can do so via SB) and then use the Next button on the SB
Note that in #3, without pausing the song, you'll have to skip through all the chapters before you can skip the song! This can be an issue when the song has many chapters (typical Paris by Night Music Video, for example). This allows the SB site to support skipping chapters without adding more buttons that can get in the way on small devices like the phone. |
