1. Press the mic button once (don’t hold it down, just press)
2. Wait until the mic icon in TKaraoke turns red. If you speak before the icon turns red, the mic was off so it wouldn’t hear what you said
3. Speak directly at the tiny hole on the top of the mibox remote, that is where the mic is.

If I got closer to the MiBox about 3 feet then no issue with the voice command, remote problem?

Hmm, check your wifi signal. Use 2.4 GHz instead of 5 GHz when connecting your MiBox to your wifi router.

I have the netgear Orbi that dynamically switched between 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz and located close to Mibox. I tested the voice command from Nvidia remote with no issue from about 9 feet away. Could this be issue with the remote Bluetooth?

I highly doubted it - I have used over 100 MiBoxes and not a single has a remote issue. Try to force 2.4 GHz connection on the MiBox. I have seen a few reporting issues when connected the MiBox to 5 GHz. Shield has no known 5 GHz issue.
