1st - I start smartripper (NO ASPI) message always appear, I ignore it, then it reads the DVD then I set the output folder, It's always preset with all chapters TICKED so I leave as is and start ripping, the ripped files works fine once play.

2nd - I start TKT, locate the directory VOB folder then set the poutput folder and click Convert VOB to MKV without tampering with any other settings. TKT would start and just stay at 0% for hours until I give up and hit cancel.

my system is an intel core 17 1.73 GHz with boost, 2GB HD graphics card so I dont think it's not up for the job.

TKT when I download it's an application file no installation done. just click and it start. is this right.

please help

I dont know what Im doing wrong. on the brink of giving up.

thanks

tomqn

Your PC is just fine.
So you went thru post #1 above, step 1 and step 2 working good.
Step 3, did you see "Found 20 files" in the example?
[mellow]
How many files Found in your TKT?
I suspect that you don't have anything there. If that's the case, your ripping process failed to produce individual songs.

What was wrong before and what did you do to make it work? Post your experience so that others can learn from. [thumbup]

Looks like the TKT doesn't work straight up after install, seem like it's the default problem everyone is getting, I tried the VOB to MKV it act like the program stuck at 0% forever but in about 10min later I give me a MKV file, it'll always better to know the status of the convertion. In the other way I try my AVS Video Converter without any compression it took 40-50 second per song, 20 songs probably about 18 minutes convertions. ALSO!!! SmartRipper works great for me on Windows 7 64x Ultimated & Pro with i7 920 3.4GHz OC, 6GB 3ch, 8TB HDs[flapper]

That is not TKT's fault... It is designed to convert an entire DVD at once (say 20 songs). When it finishes one song, it updates the percent complete. If you only convert 1 song, the percent won't move until it finishes. The user just need to know that converting VOB to MKV is not a simple task and it will take a while to dọ. Just click "Convert" and go grab a drink!

If you want to do it fast, use the Lossless mode. In this mode, there is no compression and hence no save spacing. However, the speed in this mode is super fast since it just copy the VOB file w/o much processing. The speed on this mode is basically the speed of your hard drive - however long it takes to copy the VOB file from the original location to the destination location.

Hi,

I'm using a Mac now, so I would have to use a Windows to use the software is that correct? It's an interesting program, but I have a question. Let's say I have a whole bunch of .vob files right now. Can I select all the files at once and let it convert or I have to select each .vob file one at a time? TIA

Can convert all vob files at once. You can use VMWare to run Windows inside MAC.

Awesome! Thanks! So just check mark the "Auto Select" from the software and it should decide by itself? I'm a newbie on this, but how does the new quality of the video? TIA[blush]
