Deinterlace can help makes the video looks better, especially on large screen display. This
page has a few screenshot to help illustrate how deinterlace can make better video quality.
99% of all Vietnamese DVD karaoke are interlaced and hence turning on deinterlace will help make the video looks better. However, when TKT or other software is used to convert the VOB song to MKV, deinterlace is already done as part of the conversion (TKT's "lossless VOB to MKV" will not apply any deinterlace though). Therefore, deinterlace shouldn't be turned on for songs that already deinterlaced (i.e. MKV songs converted using TKT via the non-lossless option). Applying deinterlace on an already deinterlaced song might degrade the video quality instead.
Starting with TKaraoke 1.4.0.094 (or Pro v1.5.013), there will be an option to turn on deinterlace only when needed. This option is known as "Auto Deinterlace". The following is how TKaraoke determine when to turn ON or OFF deinterlace when the mode is set to "Auto".
Auto Deinterlace:
1. If the song is VOB, turn ON deinterlace using the selected Mode.
2. If the song is MKV and the path to the song file contains the word "lossless", turn ON deinterlace using the selected mode.
3. If the song is MKV and no lossless word detected, turn OFF deinterlace
4. Turn OFF deinterlace for non-MKV or non-VOB songs.

Deinterlace ON:

In #1, because of the word "lossless" in the path, deinterlace is turned on for MKV file.
In #2, because of the word "lossless" in the file name, deinterlace is turned on for MKV file.
In #3, deinterlace is turned on for VOB files
In #4, the song is MKV and there is no word "lossless" in the path, deinterlace is turned off.
In #5, deinterlace is turned off for non-MKV and non-VOB files.
